One-off Ferrari SP38 takes inspiration from the inconic F40

Ferrari is no stranger in making special models courtesy of its One-Off Program. The Prancing Horse brand recently revealed their latest project called the SP38 and is based off a 488 GTB. According to the company, the special one-off model was comissioned by 'one of Ferrari's most dedicated customers'.

The SP38 was styled by the Ferrari Design Center and is designed specifically to meet the client's needs, which is his great passion for racing. According to Ferrari, the one-off supercar manages to capture the 'beauty and innovation inherent in Ferrari's road cars'. At the same time, it is also a model that is capable both on the road and at the track.

Styling wise, the SP38 takes inspiration mainly from the iconic F40. That said, the three-layer metallic red paint was also inspired by one of Ferrari's best models. Up front it sports a unique pair of slim headlights, created specially for the SP38. Together with it is the revised front bumper with a larger, single-piece intake vent.

At the rear, we get to see more of the F40 inspired design. There are quad taillights along with the louvered engine covers with three large horizontal slats. Completing the makeover is the integrated rear wing, which is an ode to the F40's large spoiler.

No official interior photos were provided by Ferrari. However, they did say that it sports a full tailor made cabin trim to set the SP38 apart. Furthermore, it wasn't mentioned whether the 488 GTB's powerplant was tweaked to produce more power.

The Ferrari SP38 will be on public display for the first time at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este on May 26.
