Ferrari officially ended production of the limited-edition series LaFerrari last year. But with the recent 6.2 magnitude earthquake that devastated Central Italy, leaving 300 people dead and 400 injured, Ferrari announced that they are going to produce one more than the original 499 planned.

The 500th LaFerrari hypercar will be sold at auction and all of the proceeds will go to charity to benefit the people of central Italy affected by the earthquake last August 24, 2016. However, there are no specific details yet as when and where this auction will take place.

The LaFerrari combines the marque's technical capabilities in both GT and Formula 1 engineering. It is powered by a V12 engine producing 811 PS at 9000 rpm and 700 Nm of torque. Helping it along is an electric motor which produces an additional 163 PS and 270 Nm of torque. With it, the LaFerrari has a combined system output of 976 PS, allowing it to sprint from 0 – 100 km/h in less than 3 seconds.
