Fiat 500X crossover to launch late 2014 in Europe

Based on the Jeep Renegade, will launch in USA in 2015

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has announced that it will debut the Fiat 500X crossover in Europe in late 2014 as part of its five-year global plan.

The vehicle is based on the Jeep Renegade crossover and is essentially a raised, five-door Fiat 500. It will likely be powered by the same MultiAir turbo-petrol and MultiJet turbodiesel engines found in the Renegade.

The Italian-American automaker said the United States will get the 500X sometime 2015, along with the launch of a ‘Specialty’ vehicle later in the year that is touted to be the car maker’s version of the upcoming Mazda MX-5.

FCA’s five-year plan pertains to the company’s goal of introducing all-new models and updating older models among its brands: Chrysler, Dodge/SRT, Jeep, Ram, Fiat, Maserati, Alfa Romeo and Ferrari.
