Fiat heads to Geneva with special edition 124 Spider, Abarth 695

Fiat introduces special edition Abarth 124 GT and Abarth 695 Rivale

At the upcoming Geneva International Motor Show, Fiat will be launching two special edition models from their performance division Abarth. The first of which is the Abarth 124 GT which now comes with a removable carbon fiber hardtop together with other various upgrades. Sharing the stage with the 124 GT is the Abarth 695 Rivale, which was built in partnership with yacht-maker Riva.

Aside from the new lightweight roof, which only weighs 16kg, the Abarth 124 GT also receives new visual updates. The special edition model is finished in a unique shade called Alpi Orientali Gray. The side mirrors as well as portions of the front fascia are painted in Gunmetal Gray to contrast the body color. New lightweight 17-inch wheels were also fitted and are 3 kg lighter than standard equipment. Optional extras available on the 124 GT are a carbon fiber spoiler and mirror caps, and a matte black hood.

Under the hood, the GT retains the Abarth 124’s turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine, which produces 168 PS and 250 Nm of torque, and is available with both a 6-speed manual or an automatic transmission. It goes from 0-100km/h in 6.8 seconds and can reach a a top speed of 232 km/h.

As for the Abarth 695 Rivale, almost all the changes are cosmetic. It now comes with a more retro design mostly due to the two-tone color scheme of Riva Sera Blue and Riva Shark Gray with an aquamarine stripe splitting the two different paint schemes.

Step inside, and there is more blue leather which is then coupled with maple and mahogany wood trim. This gives the hatchback a complete yacht-like feel. Should you happen to own a yacht, you may also have the name of your sea-fairing vehicle engraved on a plaque.

The 2018 Geneva International Motor Show will be open to the public from March 8 - March 18 and will take place at the Palexpo convention center.
