Remember the Subaru XV GT Edition Motor Image Pilipinas (MIP) previewed earlier this year at the Manila International Auto Show? If you've been waiting to get your hands on one, we're happy to report that the long wait is over. The exclusive distributor of Subaru vehicles in the Philippines has announced that the special variant of the XV is now ready to roll out of showrooms nationwide.
Based on the standard XV, the GT Edition features a host of upgrades giving it a sportier and stylish appeal. The special edition model was built in collaboration between Giken Co. Ltd and Mister Masahiko “Jack” Kobayashi, former chief designer at Subaru corporation and credited for styling 12 production models Subarus such as the Levorg and WRX STI.
The GT is made especially for Asia and features a wraparound body kit including a new front and rear lip, side skirts and rear spoiler. It is paired with 18-inch wheels designed exclusively for the XV GT. Inside, the seats are finished in a special leather said to be “inspired by high-performance grand tourers” of Europe. Outside of aesthetic upgrades, the GT Edition also receives improved features such as Steering responsive headlights and a Dual Side-View Monitor System.
As this is a cosmetic upgrade, no changes were made to the XV GT Edition's engine. It continues to use the same 2.0-liter naturally-aspirated mill producing 156 PS and 196 Nm torque. Symmetrical all-wheel drive and a Lineartronic CVT come standard as well.
The Subaru XV GT Edition now readily available nationwide, and is priced at Php 1,768,000. However, MIP is also offering a special price for the first batch of releases of the XV GT at Php 1,718,000. Visit your nearest Subaru showroom for other special offers and deals.
