After previewing the 2017 Kia Cadenza with a design sketch, the automaker recently released the first official images of the updated full-size sedan. Described by Kia to carry a sharper, more purposeful design, the 2017 Cadenza retains the distinct silhouette while also applying more prominent lines and a wider stance.

Taking inspiration from European luxury sedans, the refreshed sedan features a long hood along with a reworked 'tiger-nose grill' and sleek LED headlights. A gently-sloping shoulder line and sweptback roofline delivers an air of sophistication. It also has a character line that runs the entire length of the car and joins the wraparound LED taillights at the back.

As a way to further highlight the car's width, the rear gets a wide bumper, dual exhausts, integrated trunk spoiler and chrome trim on the trunk itself.

Images of the interior were not provided but Kia did say it will have 'high levels of interior quality and contemporary luxury' when it arrives.

More details about the updated Cadenza will be revealed next year.
