Last December, Toyota released a design sketch of what appeared to be a hot version of the Euro-spec Yaris hatch. Now, the automaker has officially released the first images of their upcoming hot hatch which will be making its first public appearance at the 2017 Geneva International Motor Show.
Based on the pictures, the hot hatch gets a very large grill with a black mesh pattern, along with aggressive headlights. Also seen on the Yaris are red and black body graphics, black side mirror caps, black alloy wheels, black rear spoiler and a centrally-mounted exhaust pipe.
According to Toyota, the high-performance Yaris will be powered by an engine that produces more than 210 PS. It is highly likely that the engine will be derived from the WRC Yaris which will be making its rally debut in Monte Carlo next week.
Apart from the highly-tuned hot hatch, Toyota is also set to upgrade the standard Yaris lineup with design modifications like revised front and rear styling and a more refined interior. The automaker will also be introducing handling and ride comfort upgrades to the B-segment hatchback.
The 2017 Geneva International Motor Show will run from March 9 – 19.
