What was originally available in the US market is now available in Europe after Ford launched the five-door Fiesta ST. Billed as a more practical hatch, the new five-door ST offers better access to the rear seats while not penalizing hot-hatch performance.
Exact body dimensions of the five-door ST were not released but we estimate that it will measure exactly the same as with the one in the US (4,067mm long, 1,722mm wide and 1,473mm tall).
As far as the exterior is concerned, the five-door hot hatch gets the same features from the 3-door version like the 17-inch wheels wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza tires, tailgate-mounted spoiler, unique bodykit with ST badging and a rear diffuser with dual exhaust pipes.
Also present in the five-door Fiesta ST are the: Recaro seats, sportier interior trim and Ford's MyTouch infotainment system.
Delivering power to the front wheels is still the 1.6-liter EcoBoost inline-four. It produces 182 PS along with 240 Nm of torque. It is then mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox which allows the Fiesta ST to sprint from 0 – 100 km/h in less than 7 seconds. Top speed is rated around 223 km/h.
Apart from the EcoBoost engine, the five-door Fiesta ST also features a tuned suspension system, beefier brakes, improved steering and an enhanced Torque Vectoring Control system. It is also fitted with a three-mode electronic stability control.
“Ford has now sold more than 38,000 Fiesta STs in Europe since we introduced the acclaimed hot hatchback in 2013, and growing numbers of customers have been asking us for a five-door version. The Fiesta ST with five doors makes an affordable Ford Performance driving experience accessible to an even greater number of customers,” said Roelant de Waard, vice president in marketing, sales of service at Ford of Europe.
Five color options are available to choose from for the five-door Fiesta ST which include Race Red and Spirit Blue as such.
