The city of Iloilo is gearing up for this year's Kasadyahan and Dinagyang Festivals.

With local and foreign tourists set to flock 'The City of Mansions' soon, the Deparment of Public of Works and Highways (DPWH) is busy checking vital roads in Iloilo City in order to ensure that they are free from potholes and are properly marked.

According to DPWH Iloilo City District Engineer Rodney A. Gustilo, prior to the festivals which are slated to take place on January 26 and January 27 accordingly, the maintenance crew will be mobilized to work on repainting road markings and gutters, declog drainage systems, as well as install additional signages.

“Maintenance of our city roads are regularly undertaken by our Office to ensure the smooth flow of traffic during the weeklong celebration of the Dinagyang Festival and Kasadyahan Festival,” added Gustilo.

Moreover, the DPWH assured that there no road projects currently being done within the city itself. This is to assure that both local and foreign will not be hindered by ongoing road works. However, the DPWH did say that any ongoing road projects outside the city proper that will not affect the flow of traffic during the festivals will carry on as usual.

The DPWH will see to it that repair and rehabilitation works before the festivals will be completed in order to guarantee the safety and comfort of tourists, motorists and bikers alike.
