Ford has voluntarily issued a field service action to ensure the safety of customers, to address issues concerning the speed control switch in four-to-five year old 2000 model year Ford F-150s, Ford Expeditions and Lincoln Navigators, as well as 2001 F-Series Supercrew trucks manufactured during the same time period as the other 2000 model year vehicles. Ford has been working closely with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to investigate this issue.
In the Philippines, around 2,000 vehicles of 2000 model year Ford Expeditions and F-150s and 2001 model year Ford F-150 Supercrews equipped with speed control have been identified to be included in this field service action program.
The speed control switch may malfunction, creating the potential for overheating, smoke and in extreme cases, may possibly result in fire.
Ford will replace the speed control switch at no cost to customers. Owners of affected vehicles will be notified in writing immediately. The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has likewise been informed of this field service action.
