Ford Philippines launched the 6th year of its Driving Skills for Life last September 14. The program renews Ford’s commitment to educate Filipino drivers on safe and smart driving practices.
Driving Skills for Life aims to educate more than 500 licensed drivers for free by the end of the year. These seminars are conducted through its local dealerships. It includes classroom training and practical learning to equip drivers with the proper knowledge on safe, smart, and fuel-efficient driving, and practical tips on vehicle maintenance.
Ford has been conducting such seminars locally since 2005. By 2008, it has renamed its seminars as Driving Skills for Life to match Ford’s global effort for the cause. Tuason Racing School takes part in these seminars by sending representatives to deliver the talks, and help facilitate the activities and training.
As part of the Driving Skills for Life campaign, Ford Philippines launched the ‘I Pledge to Drive Safe’ in its Facebook fan page. This encourages participants and interested individuals to make a pledge for road safety. After making the pledge, the participants are required to practice at least one of the ten safe driving techniques listed. By accumulating three successful pledges, the participant will earn one badge that merits an exclusive ‘I Pledge to Drive Safe’ kit.
“As a leading automotive brand, we see it as our responsibility to help raise awareness about safe driving, and encourage drivers to practice safe and smart driving. Our Driving Skills for Life program is an engaging and effective way to get the safety message across and deliver on this responsibility,” said Ford PH Managing Director Kay Hart.
This year, the Driving Skills for Life seminars are ongoing in Metro Manila dealerships including Ford Alabang, Ford Commonwealth, Ford Global City, Ford Libis, Makati Ford, Ford Manila, and Ford Manila Bay. Outside Metro Manila, seminar locations include Ford Batangas, Ford Cavite, and Ford Pampanga.
