Soon-to-be-launched 2018 Ford Mustang to get a manual gearbox option
Ever wanted to row your own in a Ford Mustang? You're in luck as Ford Group Philippines will offer a manual transmission for the 2018 refresh.
For the longest time, the Ford Mustang was not available with such a transmission locally. But after much clamor from enthusiasts, Ford Philippines decided now was the time to appease the three-pedal fanatics.
Beside the new ten-speed automatic that will come as standard on the 2018 Mustang, there will also be a reworked six-speed manual gearbox. According to the company, the upgraded transmission now comes with a dual mass flywheel along with a twin-disc clutch. This meant increased torque capability and easier clutch operation according to Ford.
But don't expect this to be available on the 2.3 EcoBoost as Ford will only offer the manual for the V8-powered GT.
In review, the 2018 Mustang gets a refreshed look, along with upgraded engines and tech. The turbo four-cylinder EcoBoost still produces 314 PS but now puts out 475 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the Coyote V8 gets a substantial boost in both power and torque as it now generates 460 PS and 569 Nm thanks to internal tweaks.
The 2018 Ford Mustang will be making its local debut soon.
