New Ford Fiesta Sedan makes ASEAN debut in ThailandFord Motor Company's internationally acclaimed Fiesta compact has made its ASEAN debut at the 31st Bangkok International Motor Show. This time, two models of the Thailand-built global compact - a Highlight Silver four-door sedan and a Chili Orange five-door hatchback - take center stage at the automaker's display from March 26 - April 6.
With more than 500,000 sales across the globe since its introduction last year, the new Fiesta has proven to be one of Ford's most popular models. the outside, Fiesta's exclusive kinetic design is bold and expressive. With pronounced wheel arches, the Fiesta is well planted and conveys motion even while standing still. The 4-door and 5-door configurations provide more choice for customers looking for a traditional sedan or the flexibility provided with a hatchback, respectively. Both models provide generous interior proportions and can easily accommodate five adults comfortably.
The dynamic new Fiesta will be available with two I-4 E20-capable petrol engine configurations, with displacements of 1.4 and 1.6 liters, the latter boasting a Duratec Ti-VCT system (Twin-Independent Variable Cam Timing). A six-speed dual-clutch PowerShift automatic transmission variant is also available.
The new Fiesta features a number of passive and active safety systems, including the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) which is standard on all PowerShift models, while an array of cool and hi-tech gadgetry that is unique to its segment will also be available including Bluetooth, USB and iPod connectivity, and a voice control system.
In the local Philippine market, the Ford Fiesta is expected to create equally big waves as it is Ford's very first B-car entry. "We are very excited about the pending arrival of the internationally-lauded Ford Fiesta here in the Philippines," said Rick Baker, President of Ford Group Philippines. "Since last year, we have revamped the complete line-up of Ford vehicles in the Philippines and we look forward to maintaining the momentum in 2010 with even bigger thrills and more recognition for the Fiesta."
