Ford's Raptor pickups, be it the Ranger or F-150, are some of the boldest and brashest out there. With their chunky fenders, imposing stances, and off-road kit and capability, these trucks have form and function in spades. But what if you want something more, well, in your face?
That would be the Ford Super Duty Tremor, the biggest off-road ready pickups you can buy from the Blue Oval today. Think of this then as a Raptor on steriods.
For starters, the Super Duty Tremor gets a two-inch lift kit, beefier heavy duty shocks and springs, tall 35-inch tires with 18-inch alloys, rock-crawling mode, Terrain Select, and Trail Control, which is effectively off-road cruise control. With those upgrades, the pickup sits an impressive 274 mm off the ground, making for high clearance. It then has a wading depth capability of 838 mm, which should be good for crossings rivers and streams.
Then there's the engine. With a 7.3-liter V8 under the hood, it easily trounces the the F-150 Raptor's 3.5-liter V6 in terms of size, and makes the 2.0-liter Bi-turbo diesel in the Ranger Raptor look downright miniscule. There are no figures on the big-block V8 just yet, but Ford is claiming that it is the most powerful in its class. That means we're looking at 410 PS at the very least.
But if you want your jumbo off-road rig to come with a big slug of torque standard, the Super Duty Tremor can also be paired with a diesel engine. It's a sizable engine too with a displacement of 6.4-liters. Before you ask, yes, it's a V8. Again, there are no specs for it just yet, but we're expecting its torque figure to sit in the 1,200 Nm range.
Interested? Well, we won't have it. The Super Duty pickups are sold in limited numbers outside the Americas, so the odds of having them here are slim to none.
