Ford just can't stop talking about their Edge ST. Last time out, they let us hear what it's like but now, they're laying down numbers. They also claim that the mid-sized crossover is their fastest ST-badged car to date. That's quite the claim but Ford has proof to back it up.

Now, the numbers. The Ford Edge ST packs 340 PS and a whopping 520 Nm of torque; big numbers for what essentially is a family hauler. It gets those figures courtesy of an uprated 2.7-liter V6 which is turbocharged for added grunt. Other numbers? It can do 0 to 100 km/h in about six seconds and it has an estimated top speed of over 210 km/h. While it doesn't sound like much, do keep in mind that the Edge's original purpose is to shuttle families from point A to B.

To back up those claims, Ford pitted the Edge ST against two of their hot hatchbacks, the previous-generation Fiesta ST and the Focus ST. Those two performance hatches pull up respectable figures. The Fiesta ST has an EcoBoost 1.6-liter mill with 197 PS and light weight on its side. The Focus ST on the other hand packs 252 PS from its 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine. While both have less horsepower than the Edge ST, the crossover weighs about 1,800 kilograms, a hefty weight disadvantage.

But despite weighing nearly two tones, the Edge ST leaves the Fiesta ST and Focus ST far behind. So yes, Ford's claims are substantiated with that result. It doesn't just perform well in a straight line either. As demonstrated by NASCAR driver Joey Logano, the Edge ST can pull off mad skids too.

For now, there are no plans of bringing in the Edge to the Philippines, let alone the ST version. But while the chances of the Edge ST making its way to the country are slim, we get the Ranger Raptor, which also comes courtesy of the ST division. Also, Ford will also soon be releasing the next-generation Explorer which will also come with an ST version. Given the Explorer's success in the local market, there might just be a chance the high-powered Explorer could make its way here.
