As great in-vehicle audio systems become a prerequisite in choosing which vehicle to purchase, Ford Motor Company is upping its game by partnering with HARMAN in order to introduce a the all-new B&O PLAY audio system in Ford vehicles worldwide starting next year.
“Customers tell us they value consistent, high-quality audio experiences, and our collaboration with HARMAN is helping provide that. This is just one of the ways we are creating richer, more engaging in-vehicle experiences for customers,” said Raj Nair, Ford‘s executive vice president, product development and chief technical officer.
After acquiring the Bang & Olufsen Automotive car audio business in May of last year, HARMAN wasted no time in integrating it into its portfolio of auto audio brands including including Bowers & Wilkins®, Harman Kardon®, Infinity®, JBL®, Lexicon®, Mark Levinson® and Revel®.
“Ford and B&O PLAY are a perfect match among brands that stand for quality, freedom and innovative design, coming together to revolutionize the driving experience for consumers. With our shared commitment to seamless engagement and elevated experiences, Ford is the ideal automaker to bring the transformative power of B&O PLAY audio to drivers and passengers worldwide,” said Michael Mauser, executive vice president and president of HARMAN’s Lifestyle Audio Division.
B&O PLAY plans to revolutionize in-vehicle audio experience by using ‘specifically tailored speaker placement and calibration for each vehicle in the Ford range.’
This will ensure optimal sound is maintained regardless of the driving conditions and the position of each passenger in the cabin.
To get a feel of what B&O PLAY will offer, Ford offers an on-site experience called Sound Journeys that triggers the five senses with amplified sound from three different environmental habitats – a forest, a canyon and an ocean. These experiences ‘visualizes’ sound waves in order to demonstrate how sound can transform everyday spaces, to create richer, more visceral experiences for people.
