Remember when Foton Motor Philippines Inc (FMPI) said they will award Hidilyn Diaz a brand new Transvan for winning Olympic gold? They kept their word.
Aside from being rewarded a new crossover, United Asia Automotive Group Inc (UAAGI), the official distributor of Foton in the country, has also given the Olympic Gold medalist her brand new van.
In a small event, FMPI president Rommel Sytin, together with UAAGI vice president Kenneth Sytin and Philippine Olympic Committee head Bambol Tolentino, personally led the turnover ceremony. As pledged by the brand, the Philippines’ first ever Olympic Gold medalist Hidalyn Diaz received the Foton TransVan 13-seater.
Also given a new vehicle was Carlo Paalam who won an Olympic silver medal in the Men's Flyweight Boxing Division. For his achievement, Paalam was awarded a new Foton Gratour MPV 16-seater. According to the athlete, he said the MPV will help boost the mobility of his family's business in their province.
“As Hidilyn lifted the 127 kilograms that set a new world record and brought home the gold, and as Carlo boxed his way to Olympic silver, the entire Philippines was also lifted to a level that has never before been reached. Now, allow us to be the ones to protect and carry you through our FOTON TransVan and Gratour,” said Sytin.
But what about Nesthy Petecio who won an Olympic silver medal in the Women's Featherweight Boxing Division? Chery Auto Philippines, which is also managed by UAAGI, gave the female boxer a brand new vehicle as well.
Held at the same event, the Petecio was gifted a brand new Chery Tiggo 2 crossover. According to the athlete, the Tiggo 2 was a personal choice. She adds that she is excited to get behind the wheel of the all-new crossover. When asked where does she plan on taking her brand new Tiggo 2 first, the boxer immediately answered “Baguio”.
“Sobra po ang pasasalamat ko sa UAAGI at CHERY for this opportunity na magkaroon ng bagong sasakyan. Mas nakaka-inspire po, at sana, ‘wag po kayong magsawang sumuporta sa mga atletang Pilipino”, said Petecio.
[I am very grateful to UAAGI and CHERY for this opportunity to have a new vehicle. It’s inspiring, and hopefully, people will not get tired of supporting Filipino athletes]
For Sytin, the vehicle turnover ceremony signifies UAAGI's undying commitment to helping and supporting Filipino athletes achieve their goals.
“This vehicle turnover ceremony marks another milestone in our shared goal – the recognition of the Filipino talents, and the reinforcement of eminent mobility. I hope that the Chery Tiggo 2 would give Nesthy an enjoyable ride as sweet as her name and victory,” added Sytin.
