Foton Philippines has officially expanded their lineup of automatic vehicles. Making its local debut is the 2018 Thunder 4x2 automatic. It gets a new automatic transmission along with a new Euro4-compliant Cummins turbo-diesel engine.
Dubbed Blue Energy, the 2.8-liter SOHC ISF Cummins turbo-diesel now comes with a more efficient turbocharger / intercooler and an improved exhaust-gas recirculation system that thoroughly burns fuel. It even comes with a diesel oxidizing catalyst (DOC) and a particle oxdizing catalyst (POC) that converts carbon monoxide and other harmful gases into carbon dioxide and water.
It musters 165 PS along with 365 Nm of torque available between 1500 - 3400 rpm. As previously mentioned, the pickup is now available with a six-speed automatic transmission with manual select.
Beside the new automatic transmission, the 2018 Thunder also received new standard in-car features and equipment. For starters, the Thunder now has a touchscreen infotainment system that supports AM/FM radio, Bluetooth connectivity, USB, Aux and SD. It also comes with a built-in iPod interface should one connect the device to the system.
In terms of safety, the 2018 Thunder comes with a host of features like anti-lock disc brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution and brake assist, traction control, electronic stability program, hill-descent control, hill-hold assist, reverse parking sensors and dual SRS airbags.
Other standard amenities on the 4x2 automatic Thunder include: foglights, keyless entry with remote window control, headlight level adjuster, central locking and steering wheel-mounted audio controls.
Beside the Thunder, Blue Energy powertrains were also introduced in the Toplander, Toano and Traveller View models.
