The Kia Niro has been revealed in Frankfurt today. The new Kia concept with a 1.6 liter T-GDi engine and hybrid electric drive is possibly a new B-segment contender intended for Europe. Designed at Kia’s Frankfurt Design Studio, the car incorporates urban European tastes and expectations.
The future B-segment contender looks chunkier and bigger for its class measuring 4,185 mm long, 1,850 mm wide, and 1,558 mm tall. The bigger-framed vehicle is powered by the turbocharged 1.6 liter Gamma engine capable of 160 PS paired with a 7-speed dual clutch transmission. Additional power comes from the electric-hybrid system that delivers 45 PS to the rear wheels.
“We would love nothing more than to see all of our concept designs on the streets of Frankfurt or London or Paris tomorrow. As Kia looks to add to its range of small cars for this future European market you have to look at where the market opportunities exist and how we can exploit them. Perhaps Niro answers that challenge,” said Chief Designer Gregory Guillaume of Kia’s Frankfurt office.
