At the Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA) in September, expect many to flock over to the Ferrari booth as the Italian super and sports car maker will be debuting the latest model in the 458 line up: the Ferrari 458 Speciale.
The new 'Speciale' edition features many improvements over the original 458 Italia and 458 Spyder, especially when it comes to aerodynamics. Ferrari incorporated a new active aerodynamic system into the new car, something that the automaker says “will become a standard feature of all new Ferraris in the future”.
Ferrari also installed a Side Slip angle Control (SSC) system which the manufacturer claims “makes it easier to achieve car control on the limit”. It does this by performing instantaneous analysis of the 458 Speciale's side slip, and optimizes the torque distribution and management to compensate.
The 458's V8 award-winning V8 engine has also been upgraded, now producing 596 PS and thus accelerating the car from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3 seconds flat. The 458 Speciale also has the fastest response time and highest lateral acceleration of any Ferrari road car. The lap time on Ferrari's Fiorano Circuit has also dropped to just 1 minute 23.5 seconds.
