Frankfurt 2017: Brabus tunes the G65 to 900 horsepower

Three Mercedes-AMG models get the Brabus treatment

Brabus, a long-time tuner of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has unleashed a range of high-powered AMGs in the Frankfurt Motor Show. The S-Class Cabriolet, G-Class and E-Class have been fettled by the German tuning house and the result is three cars putting out a combined horsepower figure of 2,500 PS.

With 700 PS under the hood, the Brabus 700 trounces the standard Mercedes-AMG E63 S by a healthy 88 PS. On top of that figure, this special E63 S then produces 900 Nm of torque. Keeping all that power on the road is a tweaked 4Matic all-wheel drive system and it shifts via a nine-speed automatic transmission. Brabus claims that their E63 S can hit 100 km/h from a standstill in just 3.2 seconds. Customers can also get the car in T-Modell (wagon) guise, making it one of the most potent station wagons in the market today.

For those wanting a high-performance drop-top, there's the Brabus 900 Cabrio. Based on the Mercedes-AMG S65, it packs 900 PS from its highly-tuned V12 engine with the displacement rising from 6.0-liters to 6.2-liters. Torque meanwhile is limited to 1,200 Nm and, unlike the E63 S, the Brabus S65 is rear-wheel drive only. A heavily-reinforced seven-speed automatic transmission takes care of shifting. According to the tuning house, this highly-modified S 65 is the world's fastest convertible with a 0 to 100 km/h time of 3.9 seconds while top speed is 'in excess of' 350 km/h.

Last but not the least is the Brabus 900 G65 which the tuning house claims is 'the most potent 12-cylinder SUV' in the market today. Whereas the 900 Cabrio gets its 6.0-liter V12 stroked to 6.2 liters, the 900 G65 has been tweaked that little more at 6.3-liters. Like the cabrio, power is rated at 900 PS while torque is retained at 1,200 Nm. Shifts are done through a beefed up seven-speed automatic transmission. Claimed performance figures meanwhile register a 0 to 100 km/h time of 3.9 seconds and the top speed is electronically limited to 270 km/h. Brabus is keeping this SUV highly exclusive as they will only produce ten 900 G65s.
