As the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show draws closer, Kia has given everyone a preview on what they will be displaying at the event. The still unnamed concept vehicle is more than just a pretty display on what Kia can do. It will in fact act as a preview for Kia's next generation Cee'd model when it is set to be unveiled in 2018 as a five-door hatchback.
The designed of the unnamed hatchback concept was styled at Kia's European design center, located near where it will be unveiled. The Korean automaker says that the concept presents a new body type for the brand, dubbed the 'extended hot hatch'. It is set to “retain the athleticism of the current pro_cee’d model, while combining its striking visual presence with a dash of real-world versatility.”
Moving to the concept itself, at first glance it would appear to be just another wagon concept. However the 'extended hot hatch' does feature a sporty presence especially with its pronounced wheel arches, lowered suspension and large wheels. Upon closer inspection, the car does not appear to have a B-pillar, nor does it have side mirrors. A full width tail light completes the concept's design.
Our spies have previously seen the next-generation Cee'd testing, and it does appear to have a sportier look. It is possible that this concept previews a possible fastback or shooting-brake variant of the third-generation Cee'd. Kia will reveal more details on the unnamed concept on September 12 at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show.
