Frankfurt 2017 Preview: Toyota to reveal hybrid concept, new Land Cruiser

Toyota teases CH-R Hy Power concept; next-gen Land Cruiser to debut as well

Toyota will be arriving at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show in force it seems. With only just a few days left, the Japanese automaker recently announced that they will be showing two vehicles in Germany. One will be a hybrid-powered concept and the other will be a new-generation 4x4.

First up is the CH-R Hy Power concept which highlights the company's further expansion of hybrid technology. It was designed by the company's European Design Center (ED2) and is meant to emphasize the CH-R's distinct looks, along with the practicality of a hybrid powertrain.

Based on the teaser image provided, it looks like the CH-R Hy Power concept will get a slightly altered front end given that ED2 worked on designing the upcoming concept. Beyond that, there are no other details about the CH-R Hy Power.

Aside from the hybrid concept, Toyota will also be revealing the all-new Land Cruiser. It will mark Toyota's 65 years of QDR (Quality, Durability and Reiliability) heritage. Details about the next-generation 4x4 are still vague but the automaker did mention it will have 'a unique body-on-frame construction' which will allow drivers to go anywhere and back.

Details about its design also remain a mystery though it will highly likely have an evolutionary design. On the flipside, the new Land Cruiser could also get styling cues from the FT-4X concept that was shown during the 2017 New York Auto Show. Unlike traditional SUVs, the FT-4X has a unibody construction and sits on the brand's latest Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA).

With the all-new Land Cruiser set to make its world debut, it's also likely that Lexus will follow suit with a new-generation LX.
