Upcoming Volkswagen I.D. Crozz to be more production ready

Back in April, Volkswagen first introduced the I.D. Crozz concept at this year's Auto Shanghai. Now, just five months after, the German automaker will be unveiling an updated version of the I.D. Crozz at the upcoming Frankfurt International Motor Show (IAA). Volkswagen says it will appear more production ready.

As the IAA prepares to open its doors next week, Volkswagen teases with a sketch and a video of the changes that their upcoming EV has undergone. Beginning with the sketch, the front fascia of the I.D. Crozz now shows a bit more details. The LED headlights now have a more unique set graphics instead of just lines. The VW logo is now flanked by body-colored pieces of trim with an LED strip running through it. Keen eyed readers would have also noticed that it doesn't have door handles or conventional side mirrors.

Moving to the teaser video, it shows more of the I.D. Crozz's side profile and rear end. The angle of the video shows that it will have cameras as side mirrors instead. Not much has been shown about the I.D. Crozz's rear end apart from the LED tail lights which appear flush and integrated into the body. The 'I.D.' lettering also appears below the rear Volkswagen logo.

Apart from the exterior details, no new technical details have been provided. It is likely that the powertrain from the previous I.D. Crozz introduced before will be carried over. The earlier model had two electric motors which produced 302 PS and had a top speed of 180 km/h. Volkswagen claims that the 81-kWh battery will be enough for it to do 500 km under the New European Driving Cycle.
