Baguio City now open to (fully vaccinated) tourists from MGCQ, GCQ areas

Planning to go on a road trip to Baguio soon? If you're already done with your second jab (or even a single jab), then you're now welcome to visit Baguio City.

The local government unit (LGU) of Baguio City recently updated its tourist entry protocols to allow fully vaccinated individuals to enter the city without being subjected to the mandatory swab test. With that, fully vaccinated individuals that have a vaccination card will now be allowed entry into The Summer Capital.

But what defines a fully vaccinated individual? According to the LGU, individuals are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after completing all the required vaccine doses. Also allowed entry are those that have received a single dose type of vaccine. Individuals that received a single-dose type of vaccine must be a recipient of an Emergency Use Authorization or Compassionate Special Permit from the Philippine Food and Drug Authority or included in the Emergency Use Listing of the World Health Organization.

Baguio City also said that they are open to tourists of all ages. However, only those who live in areas that are under General Community Quarantine (GCQ) and Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ) may visit.

Despite gradually opening the city to outside tourists, the LGU wished to remind those that plan on going to Baguio must still register at visita.baguio.gov.ph. There, people can create an account, schedule their visit, and create a QR-coded Tourist Pass (QTP). With the Philippine economy slowly getting back on its feet, local tourism is on the rise as well. But with the pandemic still ongoing, everyone is advised to continue following minimum health & safety protocols.
