GAC Philippines is not resting on its laurels despite launching three new vehicles last week: the all-new GN6, the E8 HEV, and the GN8 PHEV MPVs. With the brand expanding its lineup of ICE and electrified vehicles, GAC is out to get a bigger slice of the three-row MPV market, as well as the hybrid and plug-in hybrid segments.

In the future, the automaker might also have a new hybrid electric crossover in the mix. After getting HEV recognition from the Department of Energy (DOE) earlier this year, the GAC GS4 Max HEV has just received its homologation documents. You read right, the GS4 Max HEV has just been cleared by both the LTO and the DOE.

For now, it seems the only variant that has been approved by the LTO is the GS4 Max HEV GB. It gets a 1999cc (or 2.0L) hybrid powertrain that's assisted by an electric motor and a small 2.1 kWh battery pack. The result is an electric output of 134 kW or 182 PS and a combined system output of 232 PS and 300 Nm of torque, based on DOE specifications. Power is then sent to the front wheels via a 2-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT).

Beyond that, the GS4 Max HEV GB comes with massive 20-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 245/45 series tires and exterior dimensions of 4685mm long, 1901mm wide, and 1690mm tall on a 2750mm wheelbase.

Other details are not yet available, but just like the specs revealed by the DOE, the GS4 Max HEV will most likely be available with features like a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment with wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, a 50W wireless charging pad, full leather upholstery, a panoramic glass roof, a power tailgate, and a host of intelligent driver aids.
