Geely just celebrated its milestone of selling 10 million vehicles globally, but now, they have another reason to celebrate. The Chinese automaker has hit a sales milestone for the Azkarra (called the Bo Yue in China) after selling over 1 million units of the crossover around the world.

After nearly four years in the market, Geely announced that it has already sold over 1 million units of the Azkarra (Bo Yue in China), and still counting. Introduced in late 2016, the crossover is currently sold in over 17 countries across the world including Russia, Eastern Europe, South America, Africa, and Southeast Asia.

According to the Chinese automaker, the Azkarra averaged over 20,000 units sold per month since its debut and shows no signs of slowing down either in China or around the globe. First introduced with a 1.8-liter turbocharged engine for the Chinese market, it has since been updated with a 1.5-liter turbocharged mill paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system and all-wheel-drive for the overseas market. This mild-hybrid powertrain is the very same one found in the Philippine-spec Azkarra.

Locally, the Azkarra is the second model launched by Geely Philippines earlier in 2020 following the Coolray in 2018. It features loads of tech, as well as a 5-star safety rating from the Chinese New Car Assessment Program or C-NCAP. Depending on the variant, it's available in front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive configuration.

“Although the Bo Yue may have been born a domestic Chinese SUV, its success outside of China has made it a global powerhouse, with success in all of the markets it sells in. As for the future, only time will tell, but if its track record is anything to go by we can expect great things,” said Geely in a statement.
