Genesis introduces a more luxurious G90 at 2017 Seoul Motor Show
Shorty following the local reveal of the Genesis G90 at the recently concluded 2017 Manila International Auto Show, Hyundai's luxury marque launched the G90 Special Edition at this year's Seoul Motor Show.
Sporting a two-tone paint job, the G90 Special Edition takes inspiration from pin-stripe suits and gets a more refined and luxurious interior. Like the bespoke suit, each example will be tailored for a specific client.
“The Genesis brand is a lifestyle brand that not only introduces products that drive customers' desire to buy with sensational design, but also positively impacts customers' lives,” said Manfrend Fitzgerald, general strategy manager of Genesis.
On display at the 2017 Seoul Motor Show is a G90 Special Edition painted in Dark Blue Metallic with White Solid. According to Genesis, this particular color is reminiscent of high-luxury yachts. Other colors that will be available for the G90 Special Edition are: Dark Brown Metal with Gray Mat and Light Gray Mat with Light Silver Metal.
Inside the G90 Special Edition, all of the seats are upholstered in Nubuck leather and feature a pin-striped suit design and finish. Like the exterior, the cabin also features a two-tone color finish which can be seen on the door panels, dashboard and center console. Beyond that, Genesis also extensively used wood and aluminum trim pieces for the interior of the G90 Special Edition.
Powering this particular G90 Special Edition is a 5.0-liter Tau V8 that pushes 425 PS and 520 Nm of torque. It is then mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. There is no word yet whether the 3.3-liter turbocharged Lamdba V6 or the naturally-aspirated 3.8-liter Lambda V6 will be avaiable for the Special Edition.
Apart from the G90, Genesis also announced that they will expand their lineup soon with the upcoming G70. By the second half of 2017, the company will launch the new luxury sports sedan which will be imbued with the development philosophy of “Athletic Elegance”. Beyond that, Genesis is also eyeing to release a plug-in hybrid model by 2019 and an electric car by 2021.
Genesis has yet to announce on when will they start accepting orders for the G90 Special Edition.
