Geneva 2011: Porsche Panamera Hybrid
The best of all worlds
Some say it's too good to be true, but Porsche has just unveiled a car that combines luxury, sportscar manners and high fuel efficiency in the new Panamera Hybrid at the Geneva Motor Show.
Porsche's flagship sedan, the Panamera, gets a new powertrain that combines a supercharged V6 that pumps out a hefty 333 horsepower and a 47 horsepower electric motor. The new Panamera S Hybrid is also equipped with a new 8-speed automatic transmission that accelerates the new car to 100 km/h in just over 6 seconds and delivers an average fuel economy of 14.5 kilometers per liter.
No word yet if the Panamera S Hybrid will be offered locally, but if it does, it will join the elite line of ultra-luxury hybrids, a market currently cornered by Lexus's LS600h and the Mercedes-Benz S400 Hybrid.
