BMW sure is setting its sights on Mercedes, as the brand will be revealing their next new model, the 6-Series Gran Coupe, alongside the new M6 Coupe and Convertible.
Touted as a luxurious, comfortable grand tourer, the new model represents the brands first foray into the 4-door “coupe” segment, one that has been all about the Mercedes CLS-Class. It is primarily a 4 seater, though BMW also fits a 3rd seat as standard for shorter journeys.
Powering the stylish new BMW are a range of BMW's latest engines featuring BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology. The 640i Gran Coupe gets 320 horsepower while the 650i Gran Coupe gets the full 450 hp treatment. A diesel model is also to be made available, the 640d Gran Coupe, with 313 horsepower.
All model variants are fitted an 8-speed sports automatic transmission. In addition to the automatic engine start-stop function, the standard ECO PRO mode also helps reduce fuel consumption. The intelligent all-wheel drive system xDrive will be available for the top model, too.
The 6-Series Gran Coupe will be unveiled at Geneva this March.
