Kia has revealed photos of their upcoming pro_cee'd GT and cee'd GT hot hatches bound for their world premieres at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show in early March. The Europe-developed cars will be adding performance into the brand’s portfolio, a word not commonly associated with Kia.
Under the hood is a turbocharged 1.6-liter GDI gasoline engine producing 204 ps and 265 Nm, mated to a six-speed manual transmission. Initial performance figures released by Kia say that the car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds. Exterior embellishments include dual-exhaust pipes, 18-inch wheels, and red brake callipers. A 'GT' embroidered leather steering wheel and Recaro sport seats give the ‘fast feel’ inside.
The car is unfortunately Europe exclusive and will be built at Kia’s Zilina plant in Slovakia. It could however signal future GT versions of other models.
