Citroën is all set to introduce an all-new C1 at the 84th Geneva Motor Show. After introducing it in 2005, the C1 has become a widely popular model selling more than 760,000 units around the world.
To give it a fresh, new and updated look, Citroën has designed the C1 to come in either a three-, five-door or the new open-type body style ‘Airscape.’
The C1 has always displayed an urban flair due to its compact size combined with excellent handling for in-city mobility and the new model promises to enhance those traits further.
Sporting cleaner and smother lines with a distinct grille that somehow sends off an upbeat vibe along vertical daytime running lights, the New Citroën C1 will certainly stand-out. Inside, it lives up to the mood the exterior sets with brightly colored interiors.
The New Citroën C1 does not depart from the agile and nimble handling of the previous model especially with a rear axle that is 4kg lighter than the previous model. Measuring 3.46m long, 1.62m wide, 1.45m tall and with a turning radius of 4.80m, it is the same compact package with added ride comfort from a better suspension setup (new suspension springs, new shock absorbers and a new large-diameter anti-roll bar).
It doesn’t fall short of creature comforts as well, offering 7” Touch Driver Interface that handles all your media and Mirror Screentechnology allowing it to run smartphone apps right from the vehicle’s touchscreen. Open the hatch and you can configure it for 196-liter capacity or 780-liters with the rear seats are folded. As an optional feature, the New Citroën C1 can come with keyless entry with Start/Stop button along with a reverse camera and hill-start assist.
The New Citroën C1 promises segment-challenging fuel-efficiency numbers thanks to two new-generation engines pulling a curb weight of only 840kg.
The first sports a e-VTi 68 Airdream engine, with the clutchless ETG Efficient Tronic Gearbox 5-speed gearbox with creep function and optimized pedal mapping, features Stop & Start technology and comes with a special aerodynamics pack.
Another option is the VTi 82 1.2 liter 3-cylinder engine with 82bhp, torque of 118 Nm and fuel consumption of 65mpg with just 99g/km CO2 emissions.
The New Citroën C1 will be available as a hatchback in three and five-door versions and a soft-top vehicle with Airscape that provides a maximum opening of 800 mm x 760 mm. There is a choice of eight exterior colours (Caldéra Black, Gallium Grey, Carlinite Grey, Olive Brown, Lipizan White, Smalt Blue, Scarlet Red and Sunrise Red) and can also be personalised with bi-tone colour options.
Two special launch versions are available with different body and roof colours - Olive Brown roof and Lipizan White body.
The soft-top version, Airscape, is also bi-toned. Contrasting with the body colour, the soft top is available in a choice of three colours: Sunrise Red, Black or Grey. For a touch of urban chic, 14’’ or 15’’ wheel covers and 15’’ diamond-tipped alloy wheels are also available.
