In a press release, Nissan aims to stun the crowd at the 84th Geneva Motor Show with ‘shock and awe’ by unveiling a lineup composed of the all-new X-Trail and Qashqai, e-NV200 and the European premiere of the GT-R NISMO.
With the demand of technologically-advanced Nissan vehicles at an all-time high, Nissan plans to build a more vehicles than ever before in the UK, Spain and Russian production plants starting 2014. Already producing 80% of the vehicles sold in Europe, these plants will have to push capacity to the limit to meet the needs of the European car market.
The all-new X-Trail combines advanced 4x4 capabilities with a host of brand-new features including bi-LED headlamps, Nissan Safety Shield and the NissanConnect navigation and infotainment system. Alongside the X-Trail is the Qashqai, featuring its cutting-edge crossover design and various model-exclusive features including the Nissan Safety Shield and the NissanConnect system.
Nissan will be introducing the e-NV200 for Europe. The electric vehicle combines the drivetrain of the Nissan LEAF and the ‘class-leading cargo volume’ of the Nissan NV200. Nissan states that the e-NV200 will ‘bring unprecedented refinement, with zero emissions and ultra-low running costs.’ The e-NV200 will be available as a van, as a five-seater in Combi form or in the more luxurious Evalia guises.
Nissan will also debut the GT-R NISMO in production form for Europe. The upgraded model is powered by a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine that has received extensive modification from NISMO engineers. The body has been updated with a new aero package generating an extra 100kg of downforce and a Euro-tuned suspension set-up. Nissan says that the new GT-R NISMO has been tried, tested and confirmed as ‘the fastest and most advanced Nissan performance production car ever’ at the Nürburgring Norsdschleife. It currently holds the lap record for a volume production car.
Rounding up the lineup is the BladeGlider Concept. Getting inspiration from the ZEOD RC Zero Emission on Demand race car, it ‘features a radical narrow front-track design layout that creates a distinctive swept-wing shape when viewed from above.’ It boasts of a perfect weight distribution allowing it to optimize power delivery.
