Rimac Automobili is all set to reveal the production version of the world’s first all-electric hypercar, the Concept One, at the Geneva Motor Show 2016.  

Being a fully electric hypercar, the Concept One utilizes a totally different platform and layout including four powerful permanent magnet electric motors, one for each wheel located in the center of both axles.

The motors deliver a total of 1103 PS and 1600 Nm of torque and with the help of the Rimac All Wheel Torque Vectoring (R-AWTV) system, it accurately calculates the optimum torque for each wheel.

Each of the motors comes with its own proprietary gearbox system. The front motors get single-speed gearboxes while the rear comes with two-speed, Formula 1 double-clutch gearboxes on each side.

Rimac Automobili claims that the Concept One can be driven in one gear all the time ‘as it has enough torque to outperform almost any sportscar even if driven in one gear only.’

From standstill, the Concept One will reach 100 km/h in just 2.6 seconds, 200 km/h in 6.2 and 300 km/h in 14.2 seconds. Top speed is 355 km/h.

The R-AWTV also includes traction control, stability control, an ‘electric ABS’ and a regenerative braking system, using carbon-ceramic brakes, generating up to 543 PS.

Aboard the Rimac Concept One

All vehicle information, dynamics and powertrain functions are controlled by state-of-the-art, bespoke central touchscreen system. Adjustments can be done on the R-AWTV, brake force distribution, torque distribution and others to alter the performance of the Concept One.

Information comes from over 500 sensors throughout the vehicle and stored in the system’s internal memory while also being uploaded to a Cloud using a 4G connection.

Telemetry data can be accessed and analyzed on the vehicle’s touchscreen system, a PC or a mobile device.

Aside from being fast, the Concept One is also designed with top quality in mind. All that the driver touches inside are made on only aluminum, carbon or Alcantara. Nothing on the inside is made of plastic. Rimac Automobili proudly says that each piece in cabin has been crafted with the same level of workmanship as the ‘world’s best watches.’
