Geneva 2018: Lamborghini Huracan Performante now comes in drop-top form

Performante Spyder drops 35 kg from standard Huracan Spyder

When Lamborghini came out with the Huracan Performante last year, they shook Geneva with a shattering course record around the ‘ring to match its debut. Having since proven that the Performante is no slouch on the circuit, it appears they’ve focused on bringing it towards another market. For this year, Lamborghini once again brings the Performante back to Geneva – this time without its top.

That’s right, the Huracan Performante now comes in Spyder form. Essentially the same as a hard top in terms of outright performance, the Spyder does away with the roof to allow for a more visceral feel of the V10 out back once you step on the loud pedal.

The same revolutionary Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva (ALA) aero trickery found in the standard Performante is also grafted onto the Spyder version for good measure.

In order to keep weight at a minimum, Lamborghini’s engineers have utilized forged carbon fiber to drop the Performante Spyder’s weight by 35 kg from the standard Spyder – leaving it at a dry weight of 1507 kg. Propelling all that weight is the same 640 PS 5.2-liter V10 found in the hardtop Performante. 0-100 km/h is done away in 3.1 seconds, while top speed matches the coupe version at 325 km/h.

The soft top itself can be lowered or raised in 17 seconds, and can continously be operated at speeds of up to 50 km/h. Deliveries for the Huracan Performante Spyder will begin later this year.
