There are a lot of reasons to be jealous of Japan – from the country-exclusive vehicles down to the really good food. Today, however, it's a bit of both... sort of.
McDonald’s of Japan have just announced that they will be including Tomica models as part of their Happy Meal set.
A total of nine Tomica models will be introduced in McDonald’s Happy Meal set and will be introduced for a very limited time. From the week of April 17 until April 30, the Tomica models available include a Hino Fire Engine with Ladder, Nissan GT-R NISMO GT500 (50th Anniversary Edition), a 50th anniversary Tomica bus, and what looks like one of Japan’s emergency service vehicles.
Then from May 1 until May 14, the Tomica models to choose from include the Mazda CX-5 Police car, Toyota GR Supra, a dump truck, and a flatbed truck with a quirky dinosaur fossil. The ninth Tomica part of the Happy Meal is currently a mystery model. It is also scheduled to be released on May 1.
Aside from the Tomicas models themselves, Happy Meal buyers will also get limited edition goodies together with each purchase on specific weekends. For the weekend of April 18 to 19 only, each purchase comes with a limited edition Tomica Special 2020 DVD. Then from May 2 to 3, a Tomica play sheet and a 50th-anniversary poster will be included.
The Tomica Happy Meal toys will be offered exclusively in McDonald’s Japan. The collaboration is part of the toy maker’s 50th-anniversary celebration. So for the Tomica collectors out there, better find a way to get your hand on some of these limited-edition models. The GR Supra, in particular, looks really good.
