General Motors (GM) will invest USD 245 million at its Orion Assembly plant to launch an all-new vehicle that's “unlike any in the plant's 32-year history.”

Details of the new vehicle are yet to be released by the company, but GM North America Vice President of Manufacturing and Labor Relations said in a statement that the “plant is up to the challenge of building this brand-new product, something it’s never seen before.”

GM says investment in Orion totals USD 962 million since the plant reopened in 2010. The automaker adds that it will spend USD 5.4 billion on its U.S. manufacturing plants over the next three years. Approximately USD 3.1 billion of the USD 5.4 billion has been identified by GM and the rest will be announced by year end.
