About 4 months ago, General Motors confirmed that the Hummer will make a comeback. But instead of having a V8 under the hood, the Hummer will be powered solely by electricity and it will be sold under the company's GMC brand.
Now the company is gearing for up its eventual reveal, and they recently dropped a new teaser of the upcoming EV. Originally, GM was supposed to debut the all-electric Hummer EV this coming May 20, 2020. But due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the automaker decided to defer its launch at a later date. But that hasn't stopped GMC to reveal new details about the all-new Hummer.
But instead of showing another teaser image of the Hummer EV, GMC decided to showcase just how quiet the all-new Hummer can be. If you have trouble trying to hear the Hummer EV on the video, don't worry, your headsets/speakers are not broken.
As the Hummer is now powered by electric motors, it no longer emits a noticeable sound. Despite GMC claiming the Hummer EV can make 1,000 PS and nearly 16,000 Nm of torque, the company says it will deliver whisper-quiet performance.
Besides getting to 'hear' how quiet the new Hummer is, we also managed to see the electric SUV from a bird's-eye view. We don't exactly see just how the Hummer looks like design-wise but based on its size alone, the Hummer EV looks like it is as big as its predecessors. It will be pretty interesting to see just how long can the big electric Hummer travel before needing a recharge.
With no exact date yet as to when GMC will actually hold the reveal of the Hummer EV, all we can do for now is patiently wait.
