If you noticed, Motor Image has given the XV and Forester the GT Edition treatment. Essentially, it’s a kitted out version of the model which give the crossovers a more stylish makeover inside and out. The kit may not be to everyone’s liking, but it certainly does give XV and Forester a sportier appeal.
By the looks of it, GT Edition models won’t stop with just the two Subaru crossovers. Speaking with Mr. Glenn Tan, Deputy Chairman and Managing Director of Tan Chong International Ltd., the parent company of Motor Image Pilipinas, more GT edition models are being planned. When asked specifically which models will get the GT Edition treatment next, he says that it will be the Levorg and the Impreza.
No specific details were revealed regarding the upcoming Levorg and Impreza GT Edition. But, expect it to be more or less just a styling upgrade similar to the changes made to the XV and Forester GT. There will be a new front bumper extension, side skirts, rear bumper extension, and spoiler. Rounding up the changes will likely be a bespoke set of wheels exclusive only to the GT Edition variants. As to how they might look like, we leave it to your imagination. Just don’t expect them to look similar to the STI and STI Sport versions offered exclusively in Japan. If anything, these will be more of like an ASEAN exclusive line.
Following the flow of the GT Edition version, there will likely be no changes made to the vehicle’s powertrain. That said, the Impreza will continue to use the naturally-aspirated 2.0-liter flat-four which produces 156 PS and 196 Nm of torque paired to a Lineartronic continuously variable transmission (CVT). Meanwhile, the Levorg still packs the WRX-derived turbocharged 2.0-liter flat-four engine which produces 268 PS and 350 Nm of torque mated to a Lineartronic CVT.
There’s still no word as to when the Impreza and Levorg GT Edition will make their official debut. Do expect them to be debuted by next year as the new Levorg has already been previewed in Tokyo.
