Day 3 of the GT5 Challenge at the Manila Auto Salon may be classified as the most exciting qualifying day so far with the Top 3 times within three-tenths of a second.

Using the 2007 MINI Cooper S on the London city circuit, contestants were challenged by the technical nature of the tight street circuit.

In first place was AI GT5 Challenge newcomer Eduardo Suiza III clocking in at a blistering 1:01.847. Suiza is a regular competitor in real-life time attack events like Circuit Showdown organized by International race driver and GT5 Challenge competitor Enzo Pastor.

Suiza’s feat did not come unchallenged as veteran competitor Gav Quintos clocked in at 1:01.852; five-thousandths of a second shy of his time. Quintos initially set the fastest time at 1:02.092 to top the timesheets, however a determined Suiza managed to make the quickest lap on his second attempt. Quintos tried to retake P1 but was only able to get his fastest lap on his third attempt.

Joel Erickson Ursi, who earlier led with 1:03.316 nearly got knocked out of the top 4. He was able to clock in his best lap of 1:01.991 on his final attempt just before the qualifying day ended, sliding past Daryl Brady for third.

Race driver and instructor Daryl Brady, qualified with a best lap of 1:02.513 to round up the top 4 qualifiers of the day.

Suiza, Quintos, Ursi, and Brady won gift packs from MINI Philippines, gift certificates from Remixx Clothing, and VHT; they will return for the tournament proper, featuring head to head battle racing on Sunday, December 2, 5PM.
