If you ever wanted a 4.0-liter flat-six powered 718 Cayman or 718 Boxster, the only option offered by Porsche at the time were range-topping Cayman GT4 and Boxster Spyder. For some, however, the GT4 and Spyder are a bit too much. Thankfully, there's a less extreme (and more affordable) version of the range-topping 718 that will soon be available.

Called the 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 and Boxster GTS 4.0, the two models were recently revealed by Porsche as the latest addition to the 718 lineup. As their name implies, both models pack the same 4.0-liter engine found in the Cayman GT4 and Boxster Spyder. Best of all, both models continue to be offered with a six-speed manual transmission.

The 4.0-liter flat-six found in the new GTS 4.0 produces 400 horsepower and 419 Nm of torque. For comparison, the same engine found in the GT4 and Spyder produces 420 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque. Meaning, 718 GTS 4.0 buyers aren't that down on power. According to the automaker, the new variants can get the vehicles from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds and has a top speed of 293 km/h.

Aside from the engine, the 718 GTS 4.0 models come standard with numerous performance-enhancing features. These include Porsche Active Suspension which drops the ride height by 20mm, Porsche Torque Vectoring, and a mechanical limited-slip differential. There are also larger brakes to help stop the vehicle with ceramic composite rotors available as an option.

Style-wise, both the 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 and 718 Boxster GTS 4.0 look identical to the other 718 models (apart from the range-topping GT4 and Spyder). The only unique exterior touches are the black-painted front lip, fascia and trim pieces. It also rides on new 20-inch wheels with a satin black finish. Inside, the cabin is finished in black Alcantara upholstery all around and it comes with carbon fiber goodies. Porsche's Sport Seats Plus comes standard as well.

The 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 and 718 Boxster GTS 4.0 will go on sale later this 2020, and we expect the models to be launched in the Philippines in the next year or so.
