GWM Philippines put its diesel and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) models to a real-world test in its recently concluded “Go 1000 More” fuel economy run. To show its authenticity, the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP) independently observed and verified the results.

The two-day run challenged three GWM vehicles, namely the Cannon LUX 4x4 9AT, the Haval H9 LUX 4x4 9AT and the Haval H7 Hi4 PHEV, to reach the 1,000-kilometer mark on a single full tank of fuel, with the Haval H7 Hi4 PHEV starting the run with a fully charged EV battery as well.

The route covered more than 1,000 kilometers from Nuvali, Santa Rosa, Laguna to Laoag City, Ilocos Norte and back. Along the way, the vehicles travelled through expressways, provincial highways, and city roads, while dealing with changing road and weather conditions, including fair weather and periods of light and heavy rain.

The Haval H7 Hi4 PHEV delivered the best fuel efficiency of the run at 15.73 km/L, the highest among the three vehicles tested. It covered 932.4 kilometers on a single tank. Meanwhile, the GWM Cannon and Haval H9 both went beyond the 1,000-kilometer mark, recording 1,270.0 kilometers and 1,213.8 kilometers, respectively.

“'Go 1000 More' isn’t just a marketing tagline; it’s a promise we wanted to prove on the road, the way our customers actually drive. “By running our diesel and PHEV models through hundreds of kilometers of expressways, provincial roads, and unpredictable weather, and having every kilometer verified by the Automobile Association of the Philippines, we’re showing Filipino motorists that capability and efficiency don’t have to be a trade-off. Whether it’s a weekend escape out of town or the daily commute, these vehicles are built to go further on less,” said Dax Avenido, Brand Head of GWM Philippines.

The test followed strict parameters supervised by the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP). Each vehicle started with a full tank of fuel filled to the brim, with the fuel lids sealed before the start of the run. Tire pressures were set according to factory specifications, and the vehicles remained on standard OEM equipment throughout the test. The official distance was determined using trip meter readings, together with any remaining range recorded at the end of the run.

The “Go 1000 More” fuel economy run highlights GWM Philippines’ focus on delivering vehicles that offer the range, efficiency, and capability needed by Filipino motorists, whether for everyday driving or longer trips. GWM Philippines looks forward to running similar tests on the rest of its lineup in succeeding runs, including its 4x2 variants, to keep giving customers a more complete, real-world picture of range and efficiency across the lineup.
