Despite an on-going pandemic, it seems a small celebratory ceremony for the 35th anniversary of the EDSA People Power revolution will still take place. Before the celebration, the MMDA will open a zipper lane on White Plains Avenue this Thursday (February 25, 2021).
This zipper lane will act as a counter-flow taking up a lane on the eastbound side of White Plains Avenue. Its opening will be in front of Gate 5 of Camp Aguinaldo. A short program will be held at the People Power monument at 8 AM. The zipper lane ensures there is no need for a road closure, says the MMDA.
According to the MMDA, as early as 4 AM, traffic enforcers from the Philippine National Police, the Local Government of Quezon City, and MMDA constables will be dispatched to help ease the flow of traffic.
Despite the celebration and event pushing through, the MMDA will still be implementing minimum health protocols set by the IATF. These include physical distancing, as well as mandatory mask and face shield wearing.
So if you’re planning to pass by the area, maybe it would be best to take another route. But if you’re going to participate during the day's festivities, don’t forget to follow all safety protocols.
