Be prepared to experience some heavy traffic along the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) starting next week. In a recent announcement, the NLEX Corporation said that they will be undertaking repairs along the Bocaue River Bridge (also called the Santa Maria River Bridge).
Located about 300 meters north of the Bocaue Interchange, rehabilitation works on the aforementioned bridge will start on June 17, 2019 and will end on September 7, 2019. Exact details as to what repairs the NLEX Corporation will do remains a mystery. However, they did say that motorists should expect traffic delays once work begins.
That's because they will close several lanes to vehicles, as well as implement counterflow schemes along certain sections of the bridge during repairs. No detailed schedule of traffic managements have been stated although the corporation plans to announce the future schemes in a follow-up soon.
With the bridge itself catering to several nearby barangays and municipalities, this key infrastructure that crosses the Santa Maria river is vital to the expressway. Aside from the fact that it completes NLEX, it's one of the only means of crossing the river due north (and vice versa) apart from the R-9 bridge along the Manila North Road in Antipona, Bocaue.
The NLEX Corporation apologizes for the traffic the repair works will cause and hopes for the understanding of motorists' that frequently travel along the expressway.
