Hennessey unleashes 1,050 horsepower HPE1000 Demon

The 2017 New York International Auto Show saw Dodge SRT surprise the muscle car world with the menacing Challenger Demon. Producing a whopping 850 PS and 1044 Nm of torque from a heavily-tuned supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8, it allowed the Demon to sprint from 0 – 97 km/h in a measly 2.3 seconds and reach the quarter mile in less than 10 seconds at 225 km/h.

Clearly, Dodge SRT outdid themselves and the rest of the muscle car scene; or have they?

For Hennessey Performance, 850 PS and more than 1000 Nm of torque is not enough for the Demon. So what do they do? They fit an even larger supercharger on the Demon, install new powertrain components and call it a day. Say hello to the mighty HPE1000 Dodge Demon.

From its namesake, this Hennessey Demon now packs 1,050 PS at 6500 rpm along with with a wheelie-inducing 1,285 Nm of torque at 4200 rpm (wheel horsepower and torque, on the other hand, are rated at 892 PS and 1092 Nm). This means the HPE1000 Demon cranks out 200 PS and 241 Nm more than the standard Demon. The result is a 0 -97 km/h time of 1.9 seconds and quarter mile time of just 9.14 seconds at 244 km/h.

This was made possible thanks to a plethora of powertrain upgrades under the hood. Replacing the factory 2.7-liter supercharger is a huge 4.5-liter supercharger along with a supercharger pulley upgrade. Beyond that, the Hennessey-tuned Demon also gets the following: upgraded throttle bodies, stainless steel long tube headers, high-flow catalytic converters, high-flow supercharger bypass valve, upgraded high-flow fuel injectors, an improved air induction system and a HPE calibration upgrade.

“Over the past several months we have worked to develop a low 9 second drag car that our customers can drive to the track, put on an impressive show with blistering 1/4 mile times, and then drive home in complete comfort,” said John Hennessey, president and founder of Hennessey Performance.

Since production of the Dodge Demon is only limited to 3,000 units, Hennessey Performance will only produce 50 examples of the HPE1000 Demon. All 50 units will come with a 1 year / 12,000 mile (19,312 km) warranty. Orders can be placed directly at Hennessey or through authorized Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep dealers in the US.
