Over a year ago, Subaru Philippines gave us a sneak peek of their flagship crossover, the Evoltis. Also known as the Ascent in the U.S, it is the largest crossover Subaru offers worldwide. What was shown here last year wasn't the Philippine-spec model yet. But now, we have more information about it.

According to various sources, only one variant will be available. That said, you don't have to worry about the equipment list as we will get the top-of-the-line model. Per our source, the local-spec Evoltis is the seven-seater version with captain's chairs instead of a bench seat in the second-row. The seating arrangement is two in front, two in the middle, and three at the rear.

Like the rest of the local line-up, the Evoltis comes equipped with the automaker's safety suite, Subaru EyeSight. EyeSight includes adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane sway warning, automatic emergency braking, and pre-collision throttle management, just to name a few. Also standard in the Evoltis is a power tailgate, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, steering responsive headlights, and 19 cupholders.

Like the international models, the Evoltis uses a four-cylinder, 2.4-liter boxer turbo engine. It's good for 264 PS and 350 Nm of torque. Being a Subaru all-wheel drive is, of course, standard. It even has torque vectoring to enhance road-holding.

As for pricing, sources say the Evoltis will hover around the PHP 3 million range. Its closest rivals include the Ford Explorer, Hyundai Palisade, and Mazda CX-9. If you want to see it in person, it will be on display in select Subaru dealerships nationwide. You can check it out for yourself at Subaru Greenhills, Subaru Manila Bay, Subaru Global City, and Subaru Pasig very soon.
