The global auto industry may have been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic, but that hasn’t stopped automakers like Hyundai from launching several new products this year.

After revealing the 2021 Hyundai Elantra over 2 months ago, the Korean automaker is set to launch another vehicle soon: the 2021 Santa Fe. To give the motoring public a glimpse of the updated midsize crossover, the automaker released a teaser image showing the Santa Fe’s new look.

Incorporating new design features, the 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe gets a radical-looking front fascia. The new T-shaped LED daytime running lights are now integrated within the massive geometric front grill. The result is a bold and eye-catching design which further highlight the Santa Fe’s more dynamic nature.

Unfortunately, this is the only image Hyundai released; a first teaser, so to speak. But what we know is that besides giving the Santa Fe a meaner look, Hyundai will also be introducing new electrified powertrains for the crossover. That includes hybrid and plug-in hybrid options for the first time for the Santa Fe line. Interestingly, despite the relative youth of the current generation model (which has been around since 2018), the 2021 Santa Fe will be using a new platform; it will be the first Hyundai crossover that will be based on the company’s new third-generation vehicle architecture.

There was no mention if the turbo-diesel engines will still carried-over for the 2021 Santa Fe. But since other markets (including the Philippines) prefer having turbo-diesels under the hood, it might still be available in updated Santa Fe.

The 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe will officially be available in some markets come September 2020. Other markets could follow suit by the end of 2020 or in early 2021. As to when the refreshed Santa Fe will be arriving in the Philippines, perhaps it might be launched here some time in the middle of next year.
