The current generation of the Nissan Patrol has been around for about a decade now. Despite that, we still rather like it despite its age. Its imposing size and capability won us over when we recently took it out for a spin about a month ago.
However, now seems to be a good time to give it a bit of a nip and tuck, and it looks like a new look is just around the corner. Spied in the Middle East, we now have a first glimpse of the 2020 Nissan Patrol. So, what's new?
By the looks of things, the front end has been given a substantial redesign. For instance, the squared-off headlights make way for new C-shaped units, somewhat resembling the Elgrand (or the recently updated Serena). In a bid to give it even more road presence, they've made the grill bigger too, which now cuts into the middle of the bumper. Speaking of the bumper, that's been tweaked too with more chiseled corners, faux air intakes, and brushed chrome effect elements.
But it's not just the front that's been changed. Over at the rear, there's a new set of tail lights, now employing a longer, wraparound design. Even the tailgate gets new sheet metal, now with more character lines that before. Like the front, the rear also gets a more chiseled and defined bumper. Also, the spoiler gets a bit of an update as well. The rest of the body appears to be unchanged, although it is wearing a new set of alloy wheels.
There are no interior photos at the moment, but we might see some changes on the inside. Perhaps it might get a new infotainment system that better integrates the Nissan Intelligent Mobility safety suite. The dashboard itself could get a revision as well.
At the moment, there is no word if there will be any technical updates to the 5.6-liter V8. As it stands, this engine, known as the VK56VD, makes 400 PS and 560 Nm of torque. Also, there is no news if the 2020 Patrol will get a turbodiesel option.
With the 2020 Patrol being spied with little to no camouflage, it is possible that its international debut might not be that far away. With the Dubai International Motor Show just a few months from now (November), that might just be where Nissan will pull the wraps off the 2020 Patrol.
