Following the success of its launch early this year, the hit reality TV Show Hit My Ride has winded down to a climactic conclusion. Audiences were hooked as every episode gradually revealed who among the four finalists made it to winning the Php500,000 makeover of their cars, courtesy of the country's premier tuners led by Sammy Liuson of Concept One wheels and Nitto tires, bright eyes Benedict Go of Xenon Bulbs; suspension specialist Arvin Lim of Bilstein and H&R; and the King of bodykits Atoy Llave, otherwise known as the Aftermarket Mafia.
Hosted by popular radio disk jockey Sam Y G, Hit My Ride is the country's first reality TV style automotive show with a twist of American Idol. It is an offshoot of the Hit Rides radio show broadcasts over Hit 99.5 FM Wednesdays, 8:00-9:00pm. Among the pool of aspirants, only the wild and wacky antics of four guys managed to get the nod of the Mafiosi: Carlo a.k.a David Lame, a pathetic magician; Teejay, a.k.a Jumping Jack Crash, who earned his moniker when he jumped from his car and broke his leg; Rommel, a.ka. agogo boy, who gyrated like a belly dancer and Jhic, a self-confessed closet fan of superheroes.
All four were subjected to a variety of humiliating dares and jaw dropping stunts which saw one of them dancing on top of a footbridge along Quezon Avenue, with the other smashing his car to bits using a baseball bat. When the smoke of competition cleared, the lucky chap who won the coveted price was Jic, who is currently having his Ford Lynx pimped and given a second lease on life with a Php 500,000 make over.
With the start of the second season, the process is repeated once again as the Mafia hunts down the next lucky dude to make TV history by becoming the second Hit My Ride Champion.
