Prefer your RAV4 to be ready for the trails? Toyota Racing Development (TRD) can help you with that with the all-new 2020 RAV4 Off-Road.
Making its world debut at the 2019 Chicago Auto Show, it's Toyota's take on combining standout looks with off-road ready features. It gets a souped-up exterior, along with a beefed-up suspension that will allow the RAV4 to take on off-road terrain with ease.
Beginning with the exterior, the RAV4 Off-Road is available in a new exclusive body color that consists of a two-tone Magnetic Gray Metallic with an Ice Edge Roof combination. It is then accented by dark gray front and rear skirts which give the RAV4 Off-Road its more aggressive looks. Other available body colors for the RAV4 Off Road include: Lunar Rock, Midnight Black, Ruby Flare Pearl and Super White.
Complementing the Off-Road's more rugged nature, the crossover is also equipped with TRD 18-inch flow-formed alloy wheels painted in black. Wrapped around the alloys are Falken Wildpeak A/T tires which were developed specifically to meet TRD special requirements. The tires have a rugged square shoulder design which helps protect it from punctures.
Taking inspiration from the 2016 RAV4 rally car piloted by Ryan Millen, the Off-Road comes with a specially-tuned suspension engineered specifically for enhanced body control, and a smoother ride over trails and city streets. It's also equipped with coil springs painted red that aid in off-road driving. Apart from those, the RAV4 Off-Road also has retuned twin-tube shock absorbers that also come with new internal rebound springs.
Inside, the cabin is festooned with striking red constrast stitching which gives it a sportier appearance. Other than that, the seats are upholstered in SofTex, a lighter yet more durable alternative to standard leather, headrests with the 'TRD' logo stitched onto them, exclusive TRD all-weather floor mats, and a rear cargo mat.
Under the hood, the RAV4 Off-Road is powered by a 2.5-liter Dynamic Force inline-four engine that is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. It makes 203 PS along with 243 Nm of torque. It comes with all-wheel drive (with all-wheel torque vectoring) and features the Multi-Terrain Select which adjusts the drivetrain accordingly for Mud & Sand, Rock & Dirt, and Snow.
Besides giving the crossover an off-road makeover, the special edition RAV4 also comes with the next-generation Safety Sense 2.0. With it, the crossover is equipped with a plethora of active-safety features like pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert with steering assist, automatic high beam, lane keep assist, and road sign assist.
Other safety systems like blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and rear cross traffic braking will be standard equipment on the 2020 RAV4 TRD Off-Road.
